Congresso Internacional de Rádio - Dubai 2006

Maio 2006! Emirados Árabes Unidos, Dubai, Madinat Jumeirah Beach.

Foi o primeiro Congresso Internacional de rádios desde sempre no Médio Oriente, e gostaria de agradecer aos meus amigos Ian e Verity, sem vocês, não poderia ter estado aí. Tornaram o meu sonho realidade, convidando-me a fazer parte integrante da família mundial da rádio.
Verity, minha boa amiga, garantiu-me sempre que seria o único representante de Portugal, o que me deixou muito feliz.

A conferência foi muito educativa, onde aprendi em três dias, mais do que em trinta anos de carreira.
A entrega de prémios de rádio do Médio Oriente, muito me surpreendeu. Com as maiores e melhores estações de rádio do planeta, como a BBC, Radio One, MBC e muitas outras de enorme prestígio a transmitirem nesta bem sensível área do globo, representando também, um prémio para os seus profissionais, que aqui trabalham.

Aos Awards, concorreram estações de países como a Jordânia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Emirados Árabes Unidos, Egipto, Irão, Iraque, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Arábia Saudita, Syria, Cyprus, Turkia e Yemen.

A industria da rádio no Médio Oriente passa por um período sem precedentes, de mudanças e crescimento acelerado, como mencionado no congresso. O futuro está aqui, tal como há muitos, muitos anos aconteceu nos Estados Unidos e no Reino Unido.
O futuro da rádio, está no médio Oriente. Não tenhamos dúvidas…

Se eu fosse rico, construíria aqui, o meu império de rádios, com um enorme potencial de ouvintes e retorno de investimento.
Rádios Net, rádios por satélite, rádios tradicionais, elas transmitem para biliões de pessoas de todo o mundo, e a era da Rádio Digital, ainda está para chegar…

Estou muito feliz e orgulhoso de fazer parte da comunidade internacional de rádio, e que as trocas de conhecimentos, valorizem a estação para onde trabalhamos, sobretudo os nossos ouvintes, que carecem sempre de uma actualização eficaz, pronta e rápida, a todo o momento… sem descurar a nossa realidade local, mas sempre atentos aos novos desafios, que o futuro a cada dia nos traz, porque a rádio do passado, já era…

It was the first International Radio Conference in the Middle East, and the first Radiocast Awards, and I really want to thank my friends Ian and Verity, without you, I couldn’t be there.
You made my dream come true, inviting me and allowing me, to be part of the World’s Great International Radio family.

The Conference was very educational, and I learnt more in 3 days, than during my 30 year career.
The Middle East Radiocast Awards 2006 surprised me a lot.
With the World’s biggest stations such as BBC, Radio One, MBC and among many others working and transmitting in this sensitive area of the globe, the Middle East Radiocast Awards 2006, it’s also asset, for all the professionals that work in this particular area.

The radio industry in the Middle East is going through an unprecedented period of change and acceleration as mentioned. The future is here, like it was many, many years ago in USA or UK.
The future of the radio, is in the Middle East. Have no doubt about it…

Net radios, satellite radios, traditional radios, they’re broadcasting for millions of people all over the World, and the Digital Radio era, is still to come…

I’m so happy that I belong to the international radio community, and that the exchange of techniques and knowledge,
will benefit the listeners.
